For several years I have been interested in an old building northeast of Lancaster, CA. I have driven by it many times and have wondered about it’s history. On my way to Big Bend I had photography on the brain, and there were some interesting clouds as I drove by, so I stopped. Picture time!
When I was editing the photos I happened to find a website, “Beyond Nevada Expeditions”. I found out that the building had been a school and the community was called Redman. The amount of graffiti has increased since their photos.
These photos show a dilapidated building, covered in vibrant graffiti under a partly cloudy sky, standing in a desolate landscape. The open sky and barren ground accentuate the sense of abandonment and decay.
Two of the photos feature a stylized cartoon character wearing a blue hat and plaid shirt. Layers of colorful spray paint and urban art create a vibrant, chaotic scene.
