I have not spent much time looking for photo opportunities in Bakersfield but you don’t have to go too far to get into some beautiful country.  This photo was taken on Sherman Pass east of Bakersfield.  Unfortunately (or not) the air quality in Bakersfield most likely added to the color of the sky in this sunrise.  The morning was quite cool and almost looked like it could rain adding to the drama in the sky.  We did get a few showers while we were there.  You can see the results of one of the area fires on the distant hills and some of the trees on the closer hill.
